Fairfield residents protesting the Heidelberg Road Hungry Jack's fast food outlet application approved by Darebin Council are awaiting the forthcoming appeal to VCAT due to be heard 30 and 31 August. The council initially supported residents and opposed the application but subsequently backflipped and allowed the application. Residents are expecting support at the appeal from their ward councillor, Diana Asmar, who announced to a packed public gallery that she would 'stand shoulder to shoulder with the residents at VCAT.
